There is a free version of the app for those who only need the default tools. The Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plans offer more features but cost $5, $10, or more per month per individual. The price can add up quickly for larger teams and companies.

The App

OVERALL RATING: 7.5/10

Trello makes it easy to keep a simple list of the next steps and due dates for simple projects. The free version is enough for individuals who only require the most basic features, while teams looking to rely more heavily on the app can test upgraded versions with a free trial.

COST RATING: 6/10

Trello comes in four different subscription plans: free, standard, premium, and enterprise. To see the full list of features included with each plan, click here.

The Standard, Premium, and Enterprise plan pricing is based on the number of users and is billed annually. For a month-to-month subscription, the price increases for each user. Our rating takes into account the option for a free account, though the included tools are heavily restricted. For a more inclusive package, the price can rise quickly.

USER EXPERIENCE RATING: 8/10

Trello’s biggest strength is that it’s easy to use. Creating a new board or card is relatively intuitive, and the app includes customizable background pictures for each board which enhance the visual appeal.

Trello also allows you to automate a series of actions on a schedule, such as moving a card to “finished” after checking a certain box. The user sets the commands, and Trello automatically follows the directions once triggered.

Overall, Trello’s simplicity and emphasis on being user-friendly make the app an advantage over other organizational tools outside of the initial learning curve.

TOOLS AND FEATURES RATING 7/10

The free version of Trello includes unlimited storage, cards, and activity logs with up to 10 boards per workspace. There is also a set of templates that makes it easier to create a board for each specific task.

The free plan works well for individuals or small teams looking to keep work organized but doesn’t go much further. The Standard subscription offers unlimited boards, advanced checklists, and unlimited storage, which works well for teams that need to manage more work and scale collaboration.

The Premium subscription lets you view your dashboard in several ways, unlock unlimited automated commands with Trello’s automation tech, and more. Premium is available for teams of up to 100 members.

The Enterprise subscription allows you to integrate Trello with other tools such as Slack, Confluence, Google Drive, Dropbox, and more. The permission settings and security can be accessed from a central Admin Dashboard, and your team can create unlimited workspaces.

Trello’s greatest strength is its simplicity. The app is easy to use and works well for organizing basic projects but may be too limited for complex projects.

Bottom Line

Trello’s free version only gives you access to the simplest of features, and the cost of the paid subscriptions can add up quickly. But the simplicity of the design makes it easy to use and perfect for organizing and collaborating on small projects.
